Look at this! Child Centered School!

city and country school

so what are the kids studying?

what is the social studies aspect of the the theme? the math? language arts? creative arts? science? critical thinking? collaboration? problem solving?

BTW what is the floor for?

can we figure out how to weave in technology that is actually relevantly connected to the area of study?

do we need an ipad in the hand of every child for this? do we need textbooks?

what do you think the ages of the students who created this are?
do you see the suspension bridges?

how long do you think it took the students to create this?

as a teacher…how and when would you begin a theme like this with your class?

what kind of materials and support do you think you would require?  btw do you see any store made bulletin board decorations in the room? expensive furniture and rugs? what do you see?

how is learning measured-what standardized test can be used to measure what the students have learned? what measure would you recommend be used?

is this a constructivist approach to learning?
is it a progressive approach?
is it conventional “academic”?
is it socio-cognitive?
is it all of these things ..or maybe a little of this and that?
